Intercultural Arts Grants and Guidance

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has two grant programmes for individual artists as part of the Intercultural Arts Programme.

The Minority Ethnic Individual Artist Awards have been developed as part of the Arts Council’s Intercultural Arts Strategy and are designed to strengthen the current infrastructure in terms of increasing access and building capacity within the sector.  Awards can be for specific projects, specialised research, personal artistic development and certain materials/ equipment that support professional arts practice and are specifically targeted at artists from Minority Ethnic communities.

The Artist in the Community Award (Intercultural Arts) scheme, which has also been developed as part of the Intercultural Arts Strategy is designed to support and nurture professional artistic practice within a community setting.  The award will provide the selected artist/s with time and resources to reflect research and reconsider art practice within an intercultural context.  You must contact a member of the Community and Participatory Arts team prior to making an application for an Artist in the Community award.  Two awards of £5,000 each are available in this current round.

Guidelines and application forms can be downloaded by visiting http://www.artscouncil-ni.org/award/award.htm. Anyone interested in applying to the programme can contact Lizzie Devlin or Joan Dempster on 028 90 385269. Community Arts Partnership has also produced a brief guidance document which can be accessed here.

The deadline is 4pm on Thursday 16 August.

The third strand of the programme (Intercultural Arts Grants up to £10,000) opened on 13 August, for more information visit http://www.artscouncil-ni.org/award/iap.html.
