DARD has launched its £700,000 Rural Challenge Programme and the aim of the Programme is to assist in tackling poverty and social isolation within rural communities.
The programme is encouraging rural community and voluntary groups to identify a local need and propose an initiative to address a poverty or social isolation issue within their rural community. Funding of up to £10,000 is available to undertake local initiatives. Seven target beneficiary groupings have been identified for the Programme:
- Children & Young People
- Lone Parents
- Ethnic Minorities

The Scheme is currently open and will remain open until 4pm on Friday 14th December 2012.
