The SPACE Programme is a unique residency offering arts and creative practitioners an opportunity to collaborate, experiment and innovate.
This unique international multi-disciplinary residency allows you to escape your creative comfort zone in the open and inspiring environment.

The SPACE Programme facilitates collaborations with others on new approaches to making work, but without the pressure of a deadline or the expectation of a fully finished product. The only requirement is an openness to collaboration. Previous participants have come from fields including: theatre, visual arts, music, architecture, science, design, film, dance, circus, writing, comedy, opera and photography.

The SPACE Programme 2015 takes place from November 23rd to December 3rd 2015 in the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in County Monaghan.

The residency was the first of its kind when it began in 2008, and is Ireland’s longest running multi-disciplinary artist’s residency. The SPACE Programme has also sown the seeds for numerous full-scale projects, as well as long-lasting collaborations between artists.

We love collaboration. We also love experiments. From the very beginning these have been the things we’ve enjoyed most about making theatre and art,”

Said Jo Mangan, Artistic Director / CEO of The Performance Corporation.

“Of course collaboration and experimentation are the things that drive all great artistic endeavours, but we had a feeling that they were too often rushed or cut short in order to meet the deadline of opening night. We wanted to see what would happen if collaboration and experimentation were given more space. A range of highly successful theatre and arts projects have emerged due to the research and development that started in SPACE.” – Oisín Byrne, The Paper Ball, 2010

Previous participants have come from as far afield as Argentina and Russia.

“Intense, shattering and totally immersive: The SPACE Programme is a stimulating and practice-changing two weeks of collaboration.” – Oisín Byrne, Visual Artist

“It has been one of the most important experiences of my career.” – Ciaran Bagnall, Designer

“The diversity and quality of participating artists and the structure of the programme made for a very special experience, one that will continue to inform who I am as an artist and how I go about creating work.” – Justin Yang, Composer

“The support network that SPACE provides for artists are in my experience unparalleled. I feel extremely lucky to have been part of this programme and will cherish the experience, the learning and the friendships.” – Paul Curley, Actor/Theatre Maker

The application process is now open, and submissions are welcome from individual Irish and International practitioners in all disciplines. Closing Date for applications: 5pm, Friday 18th September, 2015.
