Prime Time Emmy Nominated Makeup Artist is Belfast Bound! – 19 June to 23 June

Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Fear the Walking Dead, Hunger Games; Mockingjay Part 2… Ring any bells? Titanic Creative Management welcome back to Belfast one of the men behind the makeup on these feature films and hit TV shows, Brian Kinney, to build local talent!

Titanic Creative Management, the only dedicated agency and training academy in Northern Ireland for artists working in TV, Film and Stage, will welcome back Brian Kinney, 2012 Primetime Emmy-nominated makeup artist and a Journeyman in IATSE Local 706 Make-up Artists and Hairstylists Guild, who has worked professionally in the Makeup department, in film, television, theatre, and print for over 20 years. Brian will be passing on his expert skills in makeup and working on set to a lucky 12 artists eager to break into the industry. And for the first time, offering invaluable one to one portfolio sessions and careers advice to help students launch their careers.

Since 2014 the Film and TV industry has boomed in Northern Ireland, and continued to grow at an unprecedented rate. As a result of this, Titanic Creative are often approached by industry HOD’s to run training on skills lacking in the industry. As such, Titanic Creative have been approached on countless occasions to feed the demand for individuals with training working on set, which is imperative to stand out in an ever competitive industry… That’s where Brian comes in.

Brian said “When you become a makeup artist there’s a lot more involved than the skill and creativity you need in order to stay working with a top producing film. On Set Makeup really focuses on all the things they don’t tell you about until you get to set that you need to help you go further.”

Nuala Campbell, Managing Director at Titanic Creative Management said “It’s never been a better time to start developing skills that can help you go further, in an industry that is experiencing tremendous growth in Northern Ireland. … This course gives artists a chance to find out more about working on set and develop capabilities in this, so they can then approach more opportunities and reach their dream career! We are really thrilled to have Brian back, he is a big hit with our students who continue to enrol in his courses year upon year and this really speaks volumes!”

“Social Enterprise, Titanic Creative Management was set up to help local artists gain skills in a particularly niche, yet growing field, that would help them succeed in the film and television industry. As well as welcoming local artists, we are thrilled to have students flying over from across the globe for our training, it’s a real testament to the top level training we have to offer here”.

Since training at the Delamar Academy in London, Brian Kinney has made his mark in FX labs, on set, and in classrooms across North America and Europe. His work can be seen regularly in feature films and popular television shows, such as; Fear The Walking Dead, Mad Men, True Blood, Son of Anarchy, Purge: Anarchy, CSI, Hunger Games: Mockingjay and Game of Thrones.

It’s no coincidence that Brian took on one of the roles of makeup artist on the HBO hit series Game of Thrones in Northern Ireland, when others may be coveting sunnier climes. Brian first travelled to Northern Ireland 20 years ago and discovered his heritage in Co. Tyrone. His love for Northern Ireland has continued to grow, from the place to its people and he welcomes the opportunity to travel to the Emerald Isle (his second home) for work and pleasure. The opportunity to give back to Belfast and teach his skills to develop local talent at Titanic Creative Management was one he relished.

On Monday 19th until Friday 23rd June, Brian will be transforming Titanic Creative Studios into his very own ‘set’, which will take 12 bright students from across the UK and beyond, through everything you need to know to work as a makeup artist on set, from script breakdown, budget, character design, kit building, makeup tests, application, shooting, marketing yourself in an extremely competitive industry and more, many skills of which are transferable to other departments working behind the scenes on set. This course is ideal for any artist wanting to work in television and film- whether you are just starting out or already have some on set experience. This course was unsurprisingly one of our student’s favourites in 2016 and is back by popular demand.
