14th Panarts Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival launches

For many of us, songs can take us back to important moments in our lives. A familiar song on the radio can transport us back to a favourite holiday or happy times in our youth, but who writes the soundtrack of our lives? Without the creative people who put words to music, we wouldn’t have a music industry worth millions of pounds or a song to sing at our next party or celebration.

Northern Ireland has its own celebration of the art of song writing every March and the annual Belfast Nashville Songwriters’ Festival has one of its best series of concerts to date. Glen Campbell’s daughter Ashley flew over from Nashville to help launch the 14th Panarts event at the Clayton Hotel Belfast and joining her as headlining artists in March is Una Healy, Kaz Hawkins, Texas songsmith Jarrod Dickenson and Hilltown’s Matt McGinn, who launches his new album at BelNash 2018.

CMA make a welcome return to the festival bringing their world famous CMA Songwriters Series from Nashville to Belfast as the opening concert. Bluegrass hit writers are on the way too with Chris Jones and the Nightriders performing alongside Nashville’s finest Brace, Cooper and Jutz. Joining Americana artist Katie Pruit on stage ‘In The Round’ are two of the most talented local songwriters making waves in the music world, Triona and Aidan Logan.

Ciaran Scullion, Head of Music, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, commented:

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is committed to providing valuable, meaningful opportunities for our artists to develop their professional careers. Panarts, through the Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival, not only brings the best international talent to Belfast but also showcases and celebrates our emerging artists giving them a genuine boost to their careers.

The festival events are held at Clayton Hotel Belfast 7th – 11th March and supported by Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Arts & Business, Help Musicians NI, Downtown Radio, Forestside. Tickets for the first twelve concerts are available at www.belfastnashville.com and from Dawsons Music Shop, Royal Avenue Belfast with more concerts to follow. Gold All Concert tickets are available and the Song Writing Convention features twelve workshops at BelNash 2018.
