Ards and North Down’s Arts & Heritage Autumn Guide Out Now

Ards and North Down Borough Council is delighted to announce the arrival of the latest Arts & Heritage Guide. The new-look Autumn guide, covering the September to December period is brimming with a huge range of exhibitions, music, theatre and arts events taking place across the borough. Among its colourful pages, you will find plenty of opportunities to enjoy what the Arts & Heritage programme has to offer.

Highlights from the latest guide include the Aspects Festival which is taking place from 1 – 30 September which presents another packed programme of events celebrating Irish writing. With Frank Ormsby and Lady Dufferin among the highlights, there will also be workshops, children’s events, music, theatre and the return of the Festival Yurt to Bangor Castle’s Walled Garden.

The hugely popular Friday Night Live series at Ards Arts Centre returns in September and you can also enjoy live music in the beautiful surroundings of Bangor Castle with the Music In The Chamber series. December welcomes festive events like Brass on Your Doorstep – a special Christmas concert by a section of the Ulster Orchestra at Bangor Abbey and Christmas Night at The Movies in The Queens Hall, Newtownards, an enchanting evening with acclaimed local singer Michelle Baird.

If hands-on arts and crafts appeal to you, why not sign up for one of our many Creative Classes and make someone special a Christmas gift? Choose from drawing skills, sculptural ceramics, jewellery making and more!

North Down Museum has a busy few months ahead too with a whole host of talks, exhibitions and events taking place from September to December. Highlights include ‘Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse’ a new, exciting event taking place on 27 October. The zombies are heading for Bangor, come to the museum and learn all of the skills you need to survive! Complete with a bar and a DJ, this will be a night of fun and games for adults only.

The museum is also proud to present the Bangor Football Club Centenary Exhibition which will celebrate 100 years of this local club through a variety of stories, images, programmes and paraphernalia. Join them on this wonderful trip down memory lane from Wednesday 5 September to Sunday 4 November.
