Female intergenerational singing workshop – 11 to 13 Dec

Are you aged between 13-18 or 50+? Join artist Helen Cammock for a female intergenerational singing workshop at Void this December! Tues 11th – Fri 13th Dec, culminating in a unique performance at Void on Friday 14th.

Void is looking for participants for a female intergenerational singing workshop with artist Helen Cammock. Helen will work with local Derry women of different generations to write the words to The Long Note – a tune she wrote in response to her time in Derry making the film of the same name. The performance that follows will involve the singing of this new collaborative composition from one group of women to another.

Helen’s exhibition which is currently installed at Void, The Long Note, celebrates women’s involvement in the 1968 civil rights movement and Derry’s shirt factory history.

The workshop will take place from Tuesday the 11th until Friday the 13th of December and will culminate in a unique performance at Void on Friday 14th. Tuesday, Wed, and Thurs to take place with each group separately. Times can be discussed to suit the participants.

Friday rehearsal with both groups at 6pm before performance at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be provided pre the performance.

Venue: Void Gallery, City Factory, Patrick Street, Derry, BT48 7EL
Dates: 11-14 December.
Time: TBC
Suitable ages: 13-18 or 50+
