Ards and North Down Borough Council’s latest Arts & Heritage Guide is out now – Jan to Apr

Ards and North Down Borough Council’s latest Arts & Heritage Guide is out now. The Spring guide, covering the January to April period is absolutely packed with a huge range of exhibitions, music, theatre and arts events taking place across the Borough, offering opportunities for everyone to enjoy the exciting Arts & Heritage programme.

Highlights from the Spring Arts programme include the Ards International Guitar Festival which is back with a bang for 2018. Taking place from 3 – 7 April, this year’s festival presents a fresh new programme of guitar-inspired gigs, free fringe events, guitar clinics with industry professionals and an exhibition In Your Town featuring Rory Gallagher memorabilia. Expect a jam-packed line-up of blues, folk, rock, bluegrass and classical and contemporary for guitar aficionados across the Borough.

Music lovers are in for even more treats with the Friday Night Live and Music in the Chamber events taking place from February to April. The popular Friday Night Live series sees acts such as The Rapparees, The Irish Songbook, Anthony Toner and Mandy and Graham Bingham take to the stage at Ards Arts Centre. While Music In The Chamber welcomes talent like David C. Clements, Daoirí Farrell and Los Dramaticos to perform at the beautiful Chamber room in Bangor Castle.

The New Year is the perfect time to take up a new hobby or learn a new skill. The guide contains details of Creative Classes taking place in Ards Arts Centre or try one of the new outreach classes happening at venues around the Borough. Choose from drawing, floral art, calligraphy, oil-painting, guitar playing, patchwork, photography and lots more!

There’s lots happening this Spring at North Down Museum too. On Friday 15 February, the museum will be invaded by wee ones for the Toddlers Take Over The Museum event. This popular event is a chance for your toddler to experience arts, crafts, story-telling and dancing just for them. Arts Night At The Museum is happening once again on Friday 29 March. The historical museum building will be filled with arts and crafts activities for you to participate in, experience or observe. This free event is fun for the whole family!

Stuck for last minute Christmas gift? Online ticket pre-sales for all music events are available from Thursday 20 December. Enrolment for all classes takes place on Wednesday 9 January either in person at Ards Arts Centre or by phoning: 028 9181 0803.
