The People’s Accelerator Programme – to 25 Jan

Create positive change in your community with the People’s Accelerator Programme 2019

“What would you like to change about your community?”

That’s the question being asked The People’s Accelerator Programme, a free programme focused on developing ideas for social change and innovation in communities across Northern Ireland.

The programme, which is seeking new participants for 2019 from across Northern Ireland, offers a wide range of support for anyone aged 18 and over to develop their idea for social change through workshops, mentoring, networking and finally pitching to potential funders and partners.

Michael Conlon, Head of NI Programmes for the Young Foundation said:

“Northern Ireland is facing a wide range of social issues at the moment – including our mental health crisis, a lack of funding in education and the arts and the roll-out of Universal Credit – all of which are having detrimental impacts on local communities.

The New Year often means a time for change for many people and the People’s Accelerator Programme is here to celebrate and support enterprising members of the community who want to make a change in their lives and the lives of those around them.  All you need is a strong basic idea, lots of energy and drive and we can help with the rest!”

The People’s Accelerator Programme has been running in Northern Ireland since 2016 and has helped 35 projects so far to bring their ideas to life. The kinds of projects which have been developed so far explore social change through mental health, gaming, personal development, children in care and the environment.

To mark the launch of the recruitment drive for the People’s Accelerator Programme 2019, Amplify NI will be celebrating #PeoplePowerNI from Monday 21 – Friday 25 January, shining a light on the people who make a difference in their communities across Northern Ireland and uncovering more great ideas for future change!
