Out of the Stillness by Frank Eyre is a collection of landscapes reflecting the artist’s oneness with nature and its restorative powers. Frank’s paintings are masterclasses in tonality and subtlety, evoking an emotion, rather than a tangible remembrance. His palette uses the more subdued end of the colour spectrum, yet still manages to convey a sense of light and space. His charcoal drawings are impressive studies of the human form, with all its weaknesses and strengths. He manages to capture a moment, at thought, a feeling, in just a few well-placed strokes.
Often described as the painter’s painter, he is much admired among his peers, although time spent teaching and other commitments have kept him from public attention for a while. Now he’s back with a show well worth the wait!
Frank graduated from the Art College in 1989 and began teaching at what was to become Belfast Metropolitan College until his retirement in 2015. While teaching at the MET, he obtained his MA in Fine Art.
His work is much sought after, and is held in numerous private and corporate collections, including British Telecom, NICS, and the Deutsche Bank. Exhibitions include venues in New York, London, Mexico, GB and China.
The exhibition runs at the ArtisAnn Gallery from Tuesday 5th march to Saturday 30th March with a late viewing on Thursday 14th March from 6 to 8pm.
