Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is an independent, self-funded charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court, Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle & Gardens.
HRP is embarking on an exciting project – the organisation is opening the doors of Hillsborough Castle & Gardens for everyone to explore the stories of this extraordinary place, and take part in its inspiring future.
Central to realising this project is the development and delivery of programmes for schools, families, young people, communities and adults. The Public Engagement offer will introduce the key stories, events and characters associated with Hillsborough Castle & Gardens and will enable audiences to access, connect and engage with the site’s past.
We are seeking to recruit Public Engagement Assistants to support the planning and delivery of activities and events, and to provide duty management and technical support for a range of activity, across the site and across audiences.
With your experience in supporting the delivery of activities for all ages, and of delivering a 5 * visitor experience, you’ll work across a range of activity to assist in the smooth running of Public Engagement events. This includes: set up and pack down; working alongside staff, volunteers and external facilitators to deliver the activities; and occasional duty management.
For this, you’ll need to have exceptional organisational and people skills, as well as experience of health and safety and safeguarding issues. Knowledge and experience of learning in a heritage/museum setting is highly desirable. You’ll be visitor focused, be able to work well independently and will be confident working with visitors, volunteers and external facilitators/suppliers.
Working patterns will vary but may include working half day/full day, and evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
If you think you have the enthusiasm, skills and experience to join a team that delivers exceptional programmes, we would love to hear from you.
These programmes are supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
