School Session Presenters – closing 18 Mar

Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is an independent, self-funded charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court, Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle & Gardens.

HRP is embarking on an exciting project – our organisation is opening the doors of Hillsborough Castle for everyone to explore the stories of this extraordinary place, and take part in its inspiring future.

Central to realising this project is the development and delivery of a schools programme designed to engage key stage 1 to A-Level. The schools offer will introduce the key stories, events and characters associated with Hillsborough Castle, and will enable pupils and teachers to access, connect and engage with the site’s past.

We are seeking to recruit school session presenters to deliver a range of sessions, including a specialist SEND facilitator and an artist facilitator.

With your expertise in delivering dynamic, engaging and interactive sessions outside the classroom, for school pupils of all ages, you will deliver a range of sessions (some in costume), and all utilising props, resources and handling collection items.

You will be adept at differentiating delivery to suit the needs of your audience, have experience facilitating sessions for pupils with additional needs and will be comfortable playing a character in role. You will be passionate about engaging young people with history and heritage and will be skilled at enabling them to find relevance and make connections to the past.

For this, you’ll need to have exceptional communication and people skills, be degree educated and have knowledge and experience of formal and informal learning in NI. You will be flexible and adaptable, have an enthusiastic and engaging delivery style and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Working patterns will vary but will likely include:

  • 09:30 – 13:30
  • 09:30 – 15:30
  • Some evening work, 16:00 – 18:30

If you think you have the enthusiasm, skills and experience to join a team that delivers exceptional programmes, we would love to hear from you.
These programmes are supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
