‘Into the Blue’ opening – 2 May

“Into the Blue” is an exhibition of Artist Prints produced in the Omagh’s Strule Arts Centre by a group of new and experienced Printmakers who have formed the group ‘Omagh Printmakers Initiative’ (OPI)

The aim of this group is to support each other as Artists, develop printmaking skills within the group and provide opportunities for exhibiting work.  As a newly formed group they are looking to expand membership by providing printmaking classes that are open and accessible to everyone.

The majority of the work in this exhibition was produced in such a class under the guidance of group member and Artist Helen Mc Farland.  In only 8 weeks, techniques such as Collograph, Monotype, Salt Etching, Carborundom, Drypoint and Lino Print were explored.  This eclectic exhibition is hopefully the first of many.

Briege Mc Clean participated all 8 week workshops and reports that she is now well and truly hooked!.  “ Watching your inked up plate go through the printing press to create a first print can be an unpredictable but so magical experience!”
