Young people offer “Our Vision” for good relations in Newtownabbey

Young people from Newtownabbey have created a unique Augmented Reality app which explores good relations in their community, thanks to youth arts charity WheelWorks.

Created by students from St. Bernard’s Youth and Community Group and MVI Youthworks Monkstown, the “Our Vision” app features 360 degree animation and has enabled local young people to put forward their ideas to promote respect and friendship in the area.

Veronica Tate is a Digital Innovation Artist with WheelWorks and described the impact of the project on the group:

“Augmented Reality means using your mobile device as a ‘window’ and seeing unique digital content. WheelWorks is here to make technology such as Virtual Reality music development, Augmented Reality and film accessible to as many young people as possible and to use it to explore important issues such as good relations.

The ‘Our Vision’ app enabled the Newtownabbey young people to work together on a cross-community basis, share their ideas, learn new skills and create an exciting and thought-provoking app which can be viewed by anyone with a mobile phone or tablet.”

How to Use
