Get Creative Open Day – 11 May

Ards Arts Centre are delighted to be hosting a Get Creative Open Day on Saturday 11th May when everyone is invited to come and try out some of the creative opportunities our Borough has to offer.
Watch demonstrations and have a go at various creative activities including Printing, Crochet, Weaving, Drama, Tiffany Glass, Pottery and many more. Meet the facilitators and talk to some of the groups. Find a creative activity that inspires you and learn how to get involved.

The event is part of the Get Creative Festival, a huge celebration of everything creative, taking place across Ireland & the UK from 11 – 19 May 2019. The annual festival shines a light on all the great cultural activity that takes place on a regular basis in every community and encourages people to try their hand at something new and get actively involved in creativity in their local area.

Speaking about the event, Amy McKelvey, Community Arts Officer with Ards and North Down Borough Council said: “Participating in a creative activity has been shown to be an effective way of increasing wellbeing. It calms and focuses the mind, stimulates the imagination and is social and fun. This event will give local people the opportunity to explore just some of the many creative activities on offer in the Borough”.

Ards and North Down Borough Council’s New Arts Directory will also be launching at the event. The directory will feature comprehensive online information of artists, events and creative activities within the Borough.

The Get Creative event is free and is suitable for all ages. The event runs from 12pm – 4pm.
