Flowerfield Arts Centre is delighted to welcome Corrina Askin as our first Springhall Artist in Residence, an annual opportunity created thanks to the legacy of John Onslow Springhall. A renowned visual artist, illustrator and animator, Corrina is our Artist in Residence from June to November and will be creating a ‘Dreamer’s Space’ through a series of artworks and illustrations both in the Arts Centre and in Flowerfield Park.
Celebrating the power of creativity and the imagination in connecting individuals and communities, in igniting the enchantment of the natural world and our environment and particularly, in inspiring confidence and self-belief in children and young people, Corrina will be engaging with our visitors, Park users, local community and school groups through a programme of talks, workshops and happenings to create her ‘Dreamer’s Space’. Activities will be created for all ages – Follow our website, facebook, twitter and Instagram pages to keep up-to-date with ways you can participate in ‘Dreamer’s Space’. Corrina will also be hosting regular ‘open studio’ days where you can pop in to hear about her residency and ‘Dreamer’s Space’.
Corrina studied at the Royal College of Art and has worked as an illustrator and animator for Cbeebies, MTV, Channel 4 and The Irish Film Board and created two pre-school animated series Castle Farm on Channel Five and Joe and Jack on RTE.
Her work has been purchased around the world, including Disney Latin America, ABC Australia and Milkshake Channel Five. She has won several awards for her illustration including the Bologna Children’s Book Fair Prize, The Bisto Award for illustration and The Cle publishing award, to name a few.
