Traditional Stone Carving – 6 and 7 Mar

Traditional Stone Carving with Sculptor Marc Kelly Participants will learn the basics of stone carving using locally sourced Sandstone and specialist tooling.

Drawing equipment is provided which also forms an important part of the class. Stencils/ templates are provided but free hand and new design work is encouraged before carving commences. Participants will be assisted individually in the design and carving of their stone tablet and make ready for internal or exterior display at their home.
Participants can aim to achieve a relief carved emblem/ design with some lettering during the classes using traditional methods.

On a 2-day course there is an opportunity to work on a 2D/ 3D work, students can bring along ideas/ design of their own but templates and information will be made available to everyone.
