Bluebell Arts Derry – SpeakEasy Spoken Word Events Online

Bluebell Arts Derry is happy to announce that over the coming months during this Lockdown period and it’s gradual easing we will be providing a variety of online Spoken Word events and opportunities for a wide range of poets, writers, performers and spoken word artists.

Poetry Slam

On the last Saturday of every month, commencing Saturday 30th May 2020, we will be providing a monthly poetry slam.  There will be money prizes for the winner and the 2nd placed poet.

The  poetry slams will be held on Saturdays 30th May 2020, Saturday 27th June 2020 and Saturday 25th July 2020. All these slams will commence at 6.00 p.m.

An additional Poetry Slam with Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will take place on a date to be arranged  in August 2020.  The August Poetry Slam will be a qualifier for the annual Ulster Poetry Slam Final, held every year in Enniskillen.

Email Frank Rafferty on and an entry form and a copy of Slam rules will be sent to you. 

The slams will be broadcast live via the Bluebell Arts Derry facebook  group.

The SpeakEasy – Monthly online Spoken Word event

On the last Sunday of every month, commencing Sunday 31st May,  Bluebell Arts Derry will recommence our Spoken Word event, The SpeakEasy as an online event. Anyone will be able to contribute work to this event. Poets, Actors, Writers, Comedians, Rappers, Spoken Word performers of every stripe. In the past we have also had contributions from Magicians and Musicians. This too, is welcome.

Contributions should be no longer than 10-15 mins. Max. although they can be Shorter if that’s what you wish to send.

Contributed pieces – poems, readings, sketches, monologues, short dramas, Comedy or other assorted miscellaneous pieces, will be edited into a video which will Go out at 7 p.m. each month on Bluebell Arts Derry youtube channel and the Bluebell Arts Derry Facebook page and group.
