In conversation with Taranom (former musician Afghan Women’s Orchestra)

Kerry Anderson is a Beyond Skin #youth4peace ambassador studying conflict transformation and social justice at Queen’s University Belfast. Taranom (15yrs) is a young musician who joined the Afghan Women’s Orchestra at the age of 10.  Now relocated to Finland with her family Taranom talks to Kerry about her love for music and her memories of Afghanistan. Recorded via Zoom during CoVid-19 lockdown. Many of you have been following our journey with the vision of the Afghan Women’s Orchestra visit to Northern Ireland. At the same time Taranom was standing up to dark forces in Kabul, what was to be a Northern Ireland principal funder of the project lost their nerve. Making a real difference takes bravery. The girls from the Afghan Women’s Orchestra are not short of that. Our journey together continues…
