“I have adored Seamus Heaney’s poetry since I was a young girl, so to have been selected as the runner-up in the Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing 2021 means the world to me. There is literally no other award that could ever mean as much. I am both amazed and delighted to have been runner-up this year. I will cherish and always remember this recognition and value highly the encouragement it gives me.
My sincere gratitude to Community Arts Partnership who have provided various free workshops and masterclasses over the years which I have been able to enjoy and to benefit from greatly. I could not have asked for more effective teachers and wonderful role models as those that Community Arts Partnership have provided eg Ruth Carr, Moyra Donaldson, Jan Carson and so many others.
Being selected as runner-up is such an unexpected honour. It will strengthen my confidence and desire to keep on writing. My hearty congratulations to all the wonderful longlisted poets; to Jim on winning the award; and my sincere thanks to CAP for providing writers with such wonderful opportunity.”
