Does encountering the Erne River – from its source in County Cavan, following its route through Counties Cavan, Fermanagh and Donegal to where it flows into the ocean at Ballyshannon– inspire you?
The river is an influential presence in the lives of those who live on or near its banks, and for others too. Fermanagh Writers is looking for fresh, exciting voices with a wealth of viewpoints to pen stories and poems spawned by the intriguing Erne River.
Writers are invited to submit stories and poems to Fermanagh Writers for consideration to be included in Loughshore Lines, a collection of writings inspired by the Erne River. We want writing that is creative and original (but no memoir, please), and with a strong link to the Erne River. Stories – maximum 2000 words, and poems – maximum 40 lines. The book will be released in late autumn 2021.
As well as having your writing included in Loughshore Lines, several contributors will have the chance to perform their work at events in Cavan, Enniskillen and Ballyshannon in November and December. Also, all contributors to the book are invited to participate in Improving Your Performance Skills workshops tutored by actor, Patrick McEneaney.
The editors, Jenny Brien and John Monaghan, will select the writings to be included in the book. The editors’ decision is final. Copyright for each piece of writing remains with the author.
Submit your stories and poems to Fermanagh Writers at email@example.com by 1st September 2021.
