Belfast City Council is excited to inform you of a new Creative Development Award programme now open, which will help the council review the current St Patrick’s Day city event.
Throughout the development of the council’s cultural strategy, A City Imagining 2020-2030, and with the on-going approach to culture in Belfast, BCC has demonstrated the richness of the cultural offer and the creative potential of the city. As part of the city’s recovery and strategic plans, BCC is pivoting its programmes to help build the capacity of the cultural sector whilst also delivering on the ambitions of the cultural strategy so that everyone can build back better and to a more sustainable position than people were in before the effects of the pandemic set in.
A new approach to developing and delivering the city’s events is a core aim of the cultural strategy – events are key to the cultural portfolio and can challenge and articulate a city’s diverse identity and personality. Public engagement must underpin the city’s new approach to developing events and festivals.
The first step in this journey is developing a new approach to St Patrick’s day celebrations in the city from 2022 onwards and applications are open now for up to 4 x Creative Development Awards.
Each award will be up to £15,000, with the purpose of researching, developing and exploring a new model for celebrating St Patrick’s Day in Belfast – the outcome of which will be four full feasibility reports on how the new proposals could be realised as pilots as part of 2022 St Patrick’s Day programme.
Belfast City Council will select those ideas that will progress from feasibility to pilot stage for 2022. Following the delivery of pilots in March 2022 an evaluation process will be completed with the potential to select one or more as the new delivery model for St Patrick’s Day in Belfast from 2023 onwards.
If you/your organisation/collectives are interested in applying to this Creative Development Award please email email@example.com to receive an application pack.
Deadline for applications is 4pm Monday 20th September 2021.
