Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement is underway in Derry-Londonderry from 5th – 25th September. The acclaimed international festival has become established as a headline event in the city of Derry’s cul-tural calendar in recent years welcoming artists and audiences from all corners of the globe. The pro-gramme includes a mixture of live-presence events outside, some installation and exhibition elements with-in the Echo Echo Studios and some online performances. The festival this year focuses on the work made by locally based artists and those based on our island, with the exception of an online piece by Emily Welther, an artist based in Germany.
Arts Council NI’s Drama and Dance Officer, Caoileann Curry-Thompson, said:
“We’re delighted to see the eighth edition of Echo Echo’s festival of dance go ahead this year, in this new, ‘of the times’ version. It’s great to have the opportunity to experience a variety of work – both digital and outdoor – from some of our finest dance artists from Northern Ireland and across the island. We are looking forward to seeing the streets of Derry, as well as devices far and wide lighting up with dance and movement.”
All events at Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement 2021 are free of charge although pre-booking may be required.
