‘4 Ballads’ performances with Mark Buckeridge – 14 and 20 May

As part of Mark Buckeridge’s exhibition ‘4 Ballads’, the artist has confirmed performances taking place this month on Saturday 14 & Friday 20 May 2022, beginning at 3pm on both days. The performance will last approximately eight minutes.

Mark will perform an a capella ballad in the gallery space for those attending. He spent time rehearsing with a sean nós singer and developed the lyrics for the ballad during his residency in Kaunas. The performance starts when Mark changes into the costume and it uses the sean nós singing style and song structure as interpreted by Mark, with lyrics reflecting his feelings of today and looking back at his past.

Mark is a recipient of the DeMo 2022 residency programme; the second iteration of an exchange between CCA Derry~Londonderry (NI) and Kaunas Artists’ House (Lithuania). Alongside Mark, Ona Juciūtė was selected and both artists spent a month in the respective cities to develop work for exhibitions hosted at CCA until Saturday 2 July 2022.

Venue: CCA Derry~Londonderry, 10–12 Artillery Street
Dates: Saturday 14 & Friday 20 May 2022
Time: 3pm–3:10pm
