Current Work by Brian Ballard RUA – 6 July to 27 Aug

Widely recognised as one of our foremost painters, Brian Ballard’s show at the ArtisAnn Gallery features a selection of recently completed paintings.

Born in Belfast, Brian Ballard trained firstly at the College of Art, Belfast and then in Liverpool. He still lives in Belfast but spends long periods of time living and working in his house on the remote and rugged island of Inishfree, off the coast of Donegal.

Brian prefers those moments when the sun has infused the landscape with colour. He is interested in the contrasting colours and textures in simple subjects. Painting directly onto the canvas with vigorous brushstrokes, he uses bold slashes of rich colour with fluid paint in which the bristles always leave their mark of speed and pressure.

All artworks are available to buy.

You can also buy art from this exhibition through the Own Art scheme which gives you an interest-free loan over 10 months (and you still get to take the art home immediately the exhibition ends).
