Outreach Officer – closing 22 July

Responsible to: Portico Manager

Salary: £28,000 plus benefits

Contract: Fixed Term Full Time for 2.5 years

Job purpose

The successful applicant will strengthen relations between Portico and the surrounding community by devising and delivering outreach activities. The Outreach Officer will also deputise for the Manager in her operational duties to enable her to investigate and develop potential new revenue strands. The aim of both activities is to improve long term sustainability and resilience at Portico.

Main duties

  1. To assist the Manager in devising and implementing a strategy for improving diversity and further embedding Portico in the local community.
  2. To initiate, develop, deliver and evaluate multiple outreach projects to meet identified strategic goals.
  3. To represent Portico at, and foster good relations with, a wide range of local community groups, events and activities.
  4. To devise and implement a formal framework for targeting, recruiting, training, mentoring and co-ordinating volunteers and potential volunteer managers at Portico.
  5. To collaborate, where possible, with other community groups to provide or engage in mutually beneficial volunteer training opportunities.
  6. To deputise for the Manager, as required, in the ongoing coordination of event management (to include some evening and weekend work).
  7. To utilise existing resources including spreadsheets, contacts and documentation to ensure all contacts and progress in relationships with key contacts are recorded effectively and comprehensively.
  8. To engage in any other duties considered appropriate to this post.
