Participants will be introduced to wet feltmaking, a process of layering fine merino wools to create your own felted artwork. Afterwards detail will be added with needlefelting. The theme will be a landscape of patchwork fields, and if you have a particular view point you would like to work from please bring an image with you to the workshop.
Each individual will create an A4 size finished silk piece as well as an embroidery hoop sized piece. There will be a selection of images to trace, however participants are more than welcome to bring an A4 size image to trace/work from. Image is traced onto the silk and then gutta lines are applied and left to dry. The second night will be painting into the silk where the tutor will demonstrate the lovely effects of salt on the pieces and layering of colour.
Patchwork Inspired textile techniques- alternative fabric surfaces to cut and apply onto a fabric base along with using patchwork fabric hand stitched folded squares. Followed by hand painting the base layer with fabric paints and hand stitching methods to applique on these shapes. Each participant will leave with a unique piece that has explored various techniques.
