ArtisAnnn Gallery is delighted to display this show by two renowned artists from Queen Street Studios in Belfast.
Jennifer and Gail explain
“This show is based on our mutual attention to process and time. That is, a shared commitment to making work which can take years to complete and which involves realism and detailed representation even though our subject matter differs.”
Jennifer Trouton’s work has been exhibited extensively around the world, from London, through to Washington DC, Cuba and China. She has received many awards, including the Golden Fleece, the Tyrone Guthrie award at the Royal Ulster Academy annual exhibition, Clare Morris Open Exhibition Adjudicators Award, and the RHA Annual Exhibition Keating/McLaughlin award. She has also been awarded Residencies in New York, Los Angeles, Canada and Ireland.
Jennifer’s work is held in numerous public and private collections including the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, The Northern Ireland Civil Service Collection, The University of Ulster and David Roberts Foundation London.
Gail Ritchie has exhibited widely. In 2004 she co-founded Green Dog Arts with Ima Pico and organised exhibitions of Northern Irish art in Mexico (2004), Valencia (2005) New York (2006) and Tokyo (2007). In 2007, she was selected for the Smithsonian exhibition of new Northern Irish Art (Resolutions) at the Katzen Center for Arts Washington DC. In March 2012 she exhibited work as part of Irish Wave III in Beijing, and in May at the APT Gallery London in the City and the City exhibition, as part of the Cultural Olympiad.
Gail has recently completed a Phd with practice at Queen’s University Belfast and she continues to explore themes of memory and memorial in relation to conflict.
This exhibition features work created over both their exceptional careers.
