Beyond Skin seeks volunteers for Musicians Artists at Risk Resettlement Scheme

Beyond Skin are seeking volunteers in Northern Ireland to help with Musicians Artists at Risk Resettlement Scheme (MARRS as it is affectionately known).

It has been a very successful initiative thanks to collaborative working and support from friends in Community Arts Business sectors and current volunteers.

We have a database of over 200 people we have helped and have yet to meet and get some things in place to help. A percentage of that number we are working very closely with who are helping us with logistics, translation and creative work.
Getting on average 2 referrals a day which is stretching our capacity.

Because we have successfully helped many people with creative opportunities, resources, placements and signposting. Word of mouth is directing more people to us.

Trust and building relationships has been the backbone of MARRS and that success means people tend to reach to us first when they need help. This morning 7 people have already messaged us requesting a meet or needing help with something.

Most of the volunteering is social. Spending quality time with people. Going for a coffee, creative activity, sightseeing, driving someone from A to B. Also we have very kind placement offers from many businesses so need people to follow this up and go to meetings representing MARRS.

Time capacity is our biggest challenge.

We get many free tickets for events and need people to accompany people. So nice opportunities for volunteers.
