Join Belfast Cathedral Heritage Writer-in-Residence Deirdre Cartmill for a fun and inspiring writing workshop.
One of the Cathedral guides will meet your group and share its rich history and stories with you.
Then you’ll join Deirdre for your writing session. She will give you simple skills to make your writing come alive, and guide you as you write your own stories and poems, inspired by your tour of the Cathedral.
These relaxed and easy going workshops are suitable for people of all ages and abilities. It’s not about being perfect – it’s about having fun. Deirdre will help you build your confidence, find your voice and share your story, your way.
There is an opportunity for some of the work to be included in a published booklet that will gather together observations, stories and poems from all the groups and individuals involved in the project.
Deirdre is an award winning poet, writer and screenwriter. She has published two poetry collections and has written for TV, stage and radio.
She has over 20 years experience as a Creative Writing Facilitator working with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Everyone is welcome to come along.
She has run workshops for people from every background, including people with mental health issues, survivors of trauma, survivors of abuse, ex combatants, those with learning disabilities, refugees, ex addicts, those who feel stigmatised by their community, people with long term illness or disability, young people and children in care. She is compassionate and understanding in her approach.
- The combined tour and workshop runs for two hours.
