‘Time-Lapse’ Touring Solo exhibition by Maria Noonan-McDermott ‘‘Recognition, faint, faint flicker! A moment of beauty clad in delicate bones’’ Artist and Poet Maria Noonan-McDermott presents a moving and heartwarming visual and literary portrayal in her new touring solo exhibition ‘Time-Lapse’. This exhibition is an ongoing project that Maria has been unwittingly working towards over a number of years while helping care for her mother living with Alzheimers. ‘‘The complex extended grief of Alzheimer’s with it’s untethering of time and the archaeological uncovering of the entire life of a parent that arrives with their death. All this creative exploration of grief, loss and love will be reflected through Maria’s paintings, her poetry and installation’’ – The Irish Hospice Foundation, Dec 2021 ‘Time-lapse’ solo exhibition will be showing in the Alley Theatre/Arts and Conference Centre, Stabane, Co.Tyrone from Nov 21 – Dec 23rd 2022.
The exhibition will be officially Opened by Dr. Orla Noonan-Sweeney. This is an evolving exhibition which changes and adapts with each space. New paintings have been especially created and will be accompanied by new original poetry. ‘Time-Lapse’ encompasses treasured finds from her Mum’s private collection circa 1959. This includes a selection of her vintage clothing and wonderfully detailed working sketchbooks from her time studying at the Paris Academy in London. The Abbey Arts Centre in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal hosted the first of her ‘Time-Lapse’ opening launches in February and March 2022. Funding was awarded by The Irish Hospice Foundation, supported by The Creative Ireland Programme, with additional funding awarded by Leitrim County Council. The exhibition then toured to the Ardhowen Theatre Gallery for six months in an exciting collaboration with Fermanagh’s Hambly & Hambly Gallery, Enniskillen in association with Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
