Artist Talk: Anthony Luvera – 2 Mar

“Join us for our latest Artist Talk, as Anthony Luvera talks about his work currently on display in our gallery, She/Her/Hers/Herself.”

Anthony, an Australian artist, writer and educator, uses his work to present the storys of people within the LGBTQ+ and those who have experinced homelessness. She/Her/Hers/Herself is the cumlmination of a five year collaboration between Anthony and the individual experience of Sarah Wilson. Through this exploration of Sarah’s transgender identity, Anthony captured a wide range of moments in Sarah’s life, as she was learning to express her true self and achieve personal milstones.

About the Artist

Anthony Luvera is a socially engaged artist, writer and educator based in London. His work is the product of long-term collaborations with both individuals and communities, and has been exhibited at venues including Tate Liverpool, the British Museum, National Portrait Gallery London, Belfast Exposed, Australian Centre for Photography, PhotoIreland, Malmö Fotobiennal, Goa International Photography Festival, Les Rencontres D’Arles Photographie, and Landskrona Foto Festival.

Anthony is Chair of the Education Committee at the Royal Photographic Society. He has developed education and mentorship programmes, workshops and lectures at the National Portrait Gallery, Tate, Magnum, Royal Academy of Arts, The Photographers’ Gallery, Photofusion, and Barbican Art Gallery.
