“Taking inspiration from hats of the 1940s and 1950s, you will learn various millinery related skills and how to make your own hat.
You will begin with your design and discover how to block a 3D shape from felt and stiffen it to that shape.
The process of covering using gluing and stitching techniques follows, along with teaching in wiring and shaping felt, decorating, including how to shape and trim feathers for embellishment.
You will learn how to measure a head for size, create a lining for a neat finish and how to secure a hat.
Enda Kenny is the tutor for Vintage Millinery and it will run on 10 & 17 June from 10am until 16:30pm.
All materials will be provided, however feel free to bring along any particular embellishments you have to add your own unique style to the piece.
