THRIVE Audience Development – IMPACT research report

Some of the key findings include:

  • 94% of NI audiences we surveyed said that they plan on returning to the venue and felt positive about their experience. Roughly three-quarters of audiences walked away feeling happy, with a smaller portion reporting feeling energised, fulfilled and inspired.
  • 58% of people surveyed report that the cost of living crisis is having a detrimental impact on their arts and culture engagement. The impact is felt more acutely by disabled and LGBTQ+ audiences. Both of these groups also show lower rates of satisfaction after attending.
  • Disabled audiences are more likely to attend arts and culture for a variety of reasons, with the biggest differences around supporting their mental health: they were much more likely to want to get out of the house and feel part of a community. When asked how they felt after their visit, disabled audiences were more likely to report feeling safe/comfortable, belonging, and being seen/understood.
  • 39% of audiences surveyed earn less than the NI median wage.
