Larne Community Care Centre has been working in the community for 25 years providing affordable childcare, befriending calls, signposting the local community and crisis accommodation. The centre has set up a reflection garden, in memory of Scarlett Rossborough who tragically passed away.

The centre wishes to try and secure some much needed funding to facilitate an art therapy session with her peers and family, who adored Scarlett. A local artist has been approached to come to work with small groups of the children to design and make their own personal mosaic with their memories of Scarlett. These pieces will then be placed in our reflection garden as a permanent fixture. As they contributed this will help them feel a personal connection to the area as their memories are displayed there. This will be somewhere where they are always welcome to go and reflect.

As you can imagine, the children have been deeply affected by the tragic accident last year. They are still working through their emotions and trying to deal with their feelings. These sessions of art therapy will allow children to express their emotions and thoughts in a safe environment. Creating art can serve as a form of emotional release and provide a sense of relief and relaxation. The completed artwork will help those children process them as they may find it challenging to communicate verbally.
