The Trustees of the Golden Fleece Award invite applications for the 2025 Award.
The Golden Fleece Award provides funding for artists working in all forms of visual, craft and applied arts. It is the largest prize open to both artists and makers in Ireland, and it aims to provide resources for creative practitioners working in all forms of visual, craft and applied arts to innovate and develop their work at a critical point in their careers.
Emerging, mid-career, and established artists and makers currently resident in or originally from the island of Ireland are eligible to apply.
The total prize fund for the 2025 Golden Fleece Award will be in the region of €30,000. From this, two main awards worth €10,000 each will be made, one in each category – Category 1: Visual Art and Category 2: Craft + Applied Art.
Applications must be made via the Online Application Form on the Golden Fleece Award’s website before the deadline:
- 5pm, Friday 29 November 2024.
There is no entry fee. Updates on the status of applications will be shared with entrants in February 2025, and the Trustees of the Award plan to announce the recipients in March 2025.
Applications are assessed by a specialist six-person Advisory Panel. Members of the Advisory Panel review the applications received and select a shortlist before making their final recommendations to the Award’s Trustees, who decide each year how the prize fund will be distributed.
The 2025 Advisory Panel comprises Clíodhna Shaffrey (Panel Chair and Director, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios); Sara Flynn (ceramicist); Joe Hogan (basketmaker); Hugh Mulholland (Creative Director, Visual Arts, the MAC); Stephen O’Connell (gallerist, O’Connell Gallery); and Niamh O’Malley (visual artist).
