Launch – “Poetry Matters – Write!” – 4 Dec

The launch of Douglas McCulloch’s book of poems (“Poetry Matters – Write!”) will take place at 4.00 on December 4th in the Linenhall Library. Community is one of the key issues – for many years Douglas was a member of the Corrymeela Community, and of the Corrymeela Singers.

Douglas is 74, a retired lecturer of economics (UU 1975-2012), and has been writing poetry since before leaving school in 1968. His wife was deceased by a stroke in January last, and Douglas’ writing has been an invaluable distraction and occupation since.

The booklet consists of 16 poems has been published by AuthorHouse [AH web-site e-book £2.99, Kindle £3.99, and Amazon paperback £10.99 + postage]

Douglas McCulloch’s starting point is to encourage youngsters to have the confidence to value their own ideas enough to work together on verses about matters they consider important? Poetry matters, and it matters most of all for the clearest possible thinking among the next generation of workers. But each has to speak coherently to himself or herself first, before sharing the verses created.
