Enniskillen Amateur Dramatic Society will stage The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde in February 2025.
The play follows Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who adopt fictional identities to escape social obligations. The plot unfolds with mistaken identities, clever wordplay, and humorous social commentary.
Described as “probably the wittiest comedy in the English language”, The Importance of Earnest is a much loved comedy from one of Ireland’s greatest playwrights, Oscar Wilde, who was educated in Enniskillen.
A satire of Victorian social hypocrisy, the play is considered Wilde’s greatest dramatic achievement.
