Magic of Cinema Competition for 13 to 19 Yr olds – closing 2 June

Calling all filmmakers aged 13-19! Have you entered our Magic of Cinema competition?

Explore and celebrate what cinema means to you and your community by creating a short documentary film pitch or treatment to be in with the chance of winning an exclusive mentorship experience with professional filmmakers and have your short film be transformed into a polished masterpiece!

We are looking for short documentary pitches or treatments (up to 3 minutes in length) that creatively explores the theme ‘Magic of Cinema’. Using documentary-style storytelling, we want you to capture the emotion, history, and significance of cinema in a way that resonates with all audiences. This is your chance to tell a story about the magic of the big screen – whether it’s a tribute to your favourite local cinema, a personal reflection on how film and cinema has shaped your life, or an exploration of cinema’s impact on your community.

The competition is open to all young people aged 13-19 across the UK, and all submissions must be received by 12:00 (midday) on Monday 2nd June 2025.

This can be shot on camera, or by phone, or using whatever resources you have available. We are not looking for a finished, polished piece of filmmaking – a rough draft is perfect. What matters most is your storytelling, so grab your camera and start filming today!
