As Facilities Manager, you will lead the strategic and operational management of the MAC’s building and estate.

You will be responsible for facilities performance, statutory compliance, capital project delivery and long-term asset stewardship. The role combines hands-on operational oversight with forward planning and infrastructure investment to protect and enhance a significant high value city centre public asset.

You will ensure the building operates safely, efficiently and sustainably, supporting artistic delivery, commercial activity and the overall visitor experience. Through effective lifecycle planning and targeted capital investment, you will help reduce risk, protect income and strengthen the MAC’s environmental performance.

This is a senior role with real responsibility. You will be entrusted with the care and long-term resilience of the building, playing a central part in enabling everything that happens at the MAC.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or HND in Facilities Management, Building Services Engineering, Construction or related discipline
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH)
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in facilities management within a complex public or commercial building.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering capital projects and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Experience managing operational and capital budgets.
  • Experience developing lifecycle planning and asset management approaches.
  • Experience leading competitive tenders and managing outsourced contracts with measurable KPIs.
  • Experience using CAFM and energy management systems.
  • Proven experience of managing health & safety matters in the workplace.

Desirable Criteria

  • Professional membership of IWFM or equivalent. Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, APM or similar).
  • Experience within an arts, cultural or public-facing venue.
  • Experience delivering sustainability or decarbonisation projects.
  • Experience reporting to senior leadership or governance groups.
