In September this year Culture Night Belfast, one of the biggest cultural events took place in a game-changing night of music, art, theatre, dance, drama, comedy and so much more that saw the streets of Belfast transformed with culture.
Amongst the activities CAP provided a mix of arts workshops but this year in partnership with Culture Night Belfast we carried out a more inclusive community focussed initiative and successfully brought more community groups and individuals to enjoy the night than ever before.
Part of the fun involved hands on taster workshops where people could drop in and try their hand at mural making, creative writing, carnival crafts, sculpture, photography and video all under the theme of Peace and Love.
In addition Participants of all ages were given the opportunity to take part in our poetry video project by sending a message of love from Belfast to the rest of the world on what they love about this little place we all call home.
The resulting Big Belfast Love Letter has been made possible by residents and visitors to Belfast recording their own video message to tell us what they love about the city. The response was massive and so many people enthusiastically took part sharing their feelings about the city and memories of the past, serenading us and sharing the Belfast sense of humour… it’s all in here.
Without further ado our wonderful coordinator Joanne Hamilton has lovingly edited Love From Belfast…the movie for your delectation, so sit back and enjoy…
Culture Night Belfast has been supported under Belfast Peace III Plan by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund through the Peace III Programme.
