Landmarks (formerly Belfast Wheel) is a visual arts / art in public project.
Landmarks is a visual arts project which celebrates place and people.
Participants are guided through a process by an artist/facilitator who supports them to express their views of the world, local area or a theme of particular resonance in their community. There is also the option of working with neighbouring groups from different communities to co-create artworks inspired by a common theme.
Skills and media range from mosaic, textiles, paper craft, sculpture, ceramics and others.
Joint pieces produced in the past have included two large scale sculptures: Belfast Wheel in King William Park (Belfast) and The Sails mosaics on the front of Cotton Court building in Waring Street (Belfast).
Two further projects, Century Citizen and Bloom are both yet to be installed.
