Lower Oldpark Community Association
Karen Kinghan was working with a group of young mothers developing an animation piece that will be used as a local lobbying campaign. The animation was based on a local issue – there is an old wall which blocks the view that parents have of their children in the local play park. This makes the wall which a safety issue.
It was fantastic to see the film set develop and the hard work that the ladies put into the project. Certain women excelled in creating the characters and decorating and building the set and even continued to work at these at home in between the sessions.
This was a great opportunity for women who normally just see each other in passing to build lasting relationships. The final film was shown to women in the local community and a further launch is being planned. The reaction of those not involved was real boost to the ladies involved and they themselves could not believe how the weeks of work came together.
