Community Arts and Dementia – An evaluative research survey of CAP community arts projects and dementia

An evaluative research survey of CAP’s community arts projects and dementia

There are rising numbers of older people being diagnosed with dementia, and this is only set to increase. With a move away from hospital and institutional care, people with dementia will be increasingly homebased.

Given this trend, they stand to become increasingly isolated and their ability to socialise will be affected. An overarching question of this particular research is whether there is an opportunity for creative processes to bridge this gap. In addition, what are the opportunities for creative work and creative exploration for community arts in working with people with dementia? And how might this research contribute to policy development and advocacy work?
