Community Arts Partnership’s Creative camps at Sunflower Fest

Sunflower Fest applied to be part of CAP’s annual core arts programme and were one of the successful 34 groups (out of 91) who secured a place to engage in our creative workshops.

In the run up to the festival, artist Anne Marie Taggart worked with a small team of Sunflower Fest volunteers to paint the main stage backdrops, signage for the Bliss zone and make a black raven sculpture.

On the festival weekend, CAP were to be found hidden away in the forest at the Bliss area. Our artists, Carole Kane and Heather Douglas set up a magical space for arts activities which included making windsocks, sunflowers, Viking hats, magic eye weaving, lanterns and glitter tattoos.

Over the weekend we had over 100 participants make and play with us. Parents had the opportunity to help their children, watch them immerse themselves in creative endeavours or drop their kids off for a bit of time to wonder the fields of sunflower. All the young people involved were proud of their creations as the photos are testament to, we had many returning every day throughout the weekend as they had caught the creative bug.
