Dervock Presbyterian Church project

Ladies from Dervock have designed and created a collective textile hanging which celebrates their village. This project has been overseen by Arts/facilitator, Carole Kane. When the group met at the start, they decided to celebrate all that is good in their own village.

The group observed how the village has grown around the intersection of the road, the river, the three arched bridge and water fountain. There are winding twists and bends through the paths and byways and participants still miss the wild geese that used to land in the riverbank. Three churches in the area are represented in the make up of the group and in the hanging. These visual aspects inspired group member, Debbie McConaghie to work on a design for the artwork which everyone has been developing.

Three banners tell the collective narrative but they will each also have their own story to tell. They will be shown together but eventually the hangings will be hung in three different places.
