North Down Community Network at the Mayors Parade

The “Wise the Bap” group from North Down Community Network Bangor took part in CAP’s “Landmarks” project, took part in the Mayors Parade last week. This was an extra step beyond the usual for a Landmarks project, because the opportunity emerged towards the end of their time together. After the Beat Initiative had secured funding for the Easter event to take place, Aisling Reynolds, who was the CAP artist facilitator, asked if they would like to show off their work in this way. Not only did they agree

“I saw potential with the ‘wise the bap’ group and knew one or two would be interested but was delighted when more signed up too!” Aisling said. The Beat, was able to support a few more sessions for the group to make butterfly’s for any children associated with group members to hold during the parade. They also made carnival hats for the members themselves! This was all great fun and the group were able to spend an extra few weeks being creative!

The sculpted flowers had already been displayed in the Men’s Shed shop front. When asked, the group was keen to take part in the parade as this allowed them to show off their work another time, gaining further exposure for the group in their community.

Well done to the “Wise the Bap” group from North Down Community Network
