Community Arts Partnership is delighted to announce the longlist for the Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing 2020.
Community Arts Partnership is delighted to announce the longlist for the Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing 2020. Supported by our principal funder, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and carrying the generous and continued endorsement of the Heaney Family, this award offers immense recognition and opportunity to those whose work is under consideration for the title. After a full day’s deliberation by our panel of judges, following weeks of consideration of all submissions individually, all agree that these poems are worthy of further consideration for shortlisting and indeed, ultimately, winning this year’s Seamus Heaney Award.
The poets featured in the longlist will be asked to perform their work at the launch of ‘Vision’, Community Arts Partnership’s latest poetry anthology for 2020 in the Heaney Homeplace and again at our 20th anniversary celebrations on 21st March, in St Anne’s Cathedral Belfast.
This awards event will take place on Sunday the 15th of March, starting promptly at 5.00pm and finishing by 7.00pm, at the Seamus Heaney Homeplace, Bellaghy. If you wish to attend, you should book a ticket via this link:
Seamus Heaney Awards 2020 and launch of Vision anthology
While tickets are free, you will not be admitted without a ticket.
Please note that tickets are limited, and that booking is on a first come first served basis. Given the high demand for tickets, please only book if you are absolutely sure that you can attend.
This is the sixth occasion on which the Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing will be presented and is the 19th year that our organisation publishes an anthology of poetry, celebrating the contributions of poets from right across Northern Ireland.
Congratulations to all those whose submitted work will be published in this year’s anthology, especially to those that chosen for the long list!
