NI Opera At Home: A Singing Lesson with Sarah Richmond

Following on from our popular kitchen percussion video last week, our next musical activity for children in lockdown is a singing lesson with Carrickfergus mezzo soprano Sarah Richmond. Sarah was a member of the Young Artists Programme, precursor to the NI Opera Studio, in 2013-14, has acted as a facilitator for our Little Lullabies and Singing Explorers outreach programmes and performed as a professional opera singer with companies across the island of Ireland, UK and beyond.

This lesson will take primary school children through a fun warm-up (pretend to drive a motorbike and eat your favourite food!), vocal exercises and then practising a simple and familiar song using the skills learned. The lesson is about 20 minutes long.

We hope you enjoy the lesson and that it helps parents and guardians keep your children entertained and musically engaged during this lockdown period!
