Community Arts Partnership’s National Poetry Day Celebration on Video

This year, Community Arts Partnership celebrated National Poetry Day, the annual UK-wide celebration of poetry, with a Zoom event. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Vision” and took place on Thursday October 1st.

The event was hosted by CAP’s Literature and Verbal Arts (LaVa) coordinator, Shelley Tracey. The packed programme included featured readers and an open mic and the full programme is available on video.

The video features Chelley McLear, Clare McWilliams, Denise Blake, Emma Must, Frank Rafferty, Linda McKenna, Michael Wilson, Moyra Donaldson, Raquel McKee, Stephanie Conn and Kathleen McCracken. Those readers are followed by an open mic with readers Norman Meharry, Alanna Offield, Jane McComb, James Milliken, Dearbhaile Bradley, Nancy Graham, Paula Ryder, Christine Leckey, Judith Thurley, Angeline King, Iain Campbell, Anne McMaster, Peter Courtney, Robert Adams and Yvonne Boyle. Conor Shields, CAP’s Chief Executive Officer, wraps up proceedings.

The breadth and depth of the different styles, subject matter and delivery is certainly something special, and contained within those reading are former CAP staff members, Seamus Heaney Award winners and others who have participated in CAP’s Poetry in Motion programme.
